Felix Mildenberger is General Music Director of the Brandenburg State Orchestra Frankfurt and Principal Guest Conductor of the Filarmonica TRT. The press has described him as “young, dynamic, energetic, determined, and full of expressive body language.” Since winning the Donatella Flick LSO Conducting Competition in 2018, he has quickly established himself internationally.
He has worked with orchestras such as the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin (DSO Berlin), the NDR Radiophilharmonie Hannover, the Frankfurt Radio Symphony, the Konzerthausorchester Berlin, the Deutsche Radio Philharmonie, the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, Camerata Salzburg, the Dresden Philharmonic, the Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra, the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra, the Staatskapelle Weimar, Ensemble Modern, the Brussels Philharmonic, the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra, the Basel Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestre National de Lille, the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, the Orchestre National des Pays de la Loire, the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra, the Taipei Symphony Orchestra, and many others.
Among the soloists with whom he has collaborated are Julia Fischer, Lucas & Arthur Jussen, Sabine Meyer, Nils Mönkemeyer, Daniel Lozakovich, Alexei Volodin, and James Ehnes.
He has gained operatic experience at the Bavarian State Opera, the Aspen Opera Center, and the Deutsche Oper Berlin, where he made his debut in 2024 with George Benjamin’s Written on Skin.
His path led him from violin, viola, and piano to studies in conducting in Freiburg, Vienna, and at the Aspen Music Festival. After several years as an assistant to conductors such as Simon Rattle and Paavo Järvi, he was awarded the Prix Young Artist of the Year in 2020 and was included in the German Music Council’s Maestros of Tomorrow list in 2021.
