Klaus Florian Vogt is one of today’s outstanding heroic tenors. His repertoire includes primarily Wagner roles such as Lohengrin, Tannhäuser, Parsifal, Stolzing, Siegmund, Siegfried (Siegfried and Götterdämmerung), and Tristan, as well as roles such as Florestan (Fidelio), Paul (Die tote Stadt), the Prince (Rusalka), and others.

Klaus Florian Vogt is a sought-after guest at all the major opera houses around the world, as well as at the Bayreuth Festival, the Salzburg Festival, and numerous other festivals. Engagements have taken him to opera houses in Munich, Berlin, Hamburg, Dresden, Paris, London, Zurich, Barcelona, Vienna, Madrid, Milan, Florence, Helsinki, Los Angeles, and others. In 2005, he made his Japanese debut as Hoffmann (Les contes d’Hoffmann) in Tokyo, followed in 2006 by his American debut as Lohengrin at the Metropolitan Opera in New York. In 2007, he sang for the first time at La Scala in Milan (Lohengrin), followed later by Florestan (Fidelio); in 2025 and 2026, he returned to Milan as Siegmund and Siegfried in the new Ring of the Nibelung. In 2023, he celebrated a major success at the Zurich Opera House with his role debut as Siegfried in Siegfried and in Götterdämmerung. In 2024, Klaus Florian Vogt made his highly successful role debut as Tristan at the Semperoper Dresden under the baton of Christian Thielemann.

In 2007, he made his triumphant debut at the Bayreuth Festival as Walther von Stolzing in the new production of Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, directed by Katharina Wagner. From 2011 to 2015, he sang the title role of Lohengrin there in a production directed by Hans Neuenfels. In the summer of 2016, Klaus Florian Vogt took on the title role in the new production of Parsifal at the Bayreuth Festival under the baton of Hartmut Haenchen. From 2017 to 2021, he appeared on the Green Hill as Stolzing in Barrie Kosky’s highly acclaimed production of Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg. In 2019, he returned to the Festival as Lohengrin; in 2021, he sang Siegmund in Die Walküre; and in 2022 and 2023, he appeared in this role in the new Ring of the Nibelung production directed by Valentin Schwarz. In 2023, he sang the title role in Tannhäuser for the first time in Bayreuth; in 2024, he made his debut as Siegfried in Siegfried and Götterdämmerung and also reprised the title role in Tannhäuser. In 2025, he took on both Siegfried roles in the Ring. For the 150th anniversary of the Bayreuth Festival in 2026, Klaus Florian Vogt will appear in all four operas of the Ring Cycle under the baton of Christian Thielemann - as Loge in Das Rheingold, as Siegmund in Die Walküre, and as Siegfried in Siegfried and Götterdämmerung.

Klaus Florian Vogt performs as Lohengrin all over the world. No other singer has achieved such artistic success in the role of Wagner’s Grail Knight. He has performed the role at venues including La Scala in Milan, the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the Royal Opera House in London, the Vienna State Opera, the Zurich Opera House, the Gran Teatre del Liceu, the New National Theater in Tokyo, the Bavarian State Opera, the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Hamburg State Opera, the Baden-Baden Whitsun Festival, and, of course, on multiple occasions at the Bayreuth Festival.

A native of northern Germany, Klaus Florian Vogt began his musical career as a horn player with the Hamburg Philharmonic State Orchestra. At the same time, he studied voice at the Lübeck University of Music. In 1997–98, he received his first engagement at the Landestheater Flensburg; from 1998 to 2003, he was a member of the ensemble at the Semperoper Dresden. He has been working as a freelance artist since 2003.

Klaus Florian Vogt is also one of the leading tenors in the world of concert and art song. His performances have taken him to Vienna, Milan, New York, the Tanglewood Festival, the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, London, Athens, Berlin, and Leipzig, as well as the Salzburg Festival. His repertoire includes works by Mozart, Beethoven, Mahler, Verdi, Dvořák, Wagner, and others. He celebrated a major success in 2019 with the world premiere of a chamber music version of Franz Schubert’s Die schöne Müllerin at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg. On the concert stage, he collaborates with orchestras such as the Vienna Philharmonic, the Berlin Philharmonic, the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, the Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam, the Munich Philharmonic, the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Philharmonia Orchestra London, the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra, the Munich Radio Orchestra, the Orchestre National de France, the Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, the New Japan Philharmonic, the NHK Symphony Orchestra, the Filarmonica della Scala, the Staatskapelle Dresden, the Staatskapelle Berlin, the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra, the Dresden Philharmonic, the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, and others.

He has collaborated with conductors such as Daniel Barenboim, Philippe Jordan, Kent Nagano, Nathalie Stutzmann, Gianandrea Noseda, Andris Nelsons, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Daniele Gatti, Fabio Luisi, Franz Welser-Möst, Antonio Pappano, Maris Jansons, Riccardo Chailly, Zubin Mehta, Kirill Petrenko, Christian Thielemann, and Simone Young.

Klaus Florian Vogt has released numerous recordings and solo albums. SONY Classical has released his three solo CDs, “Helden” (2012) with the Orchestra of the Deutsche Oper Berlin under Peter Schneider, “Wagner” (2013) with the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra under Jonathan Nott, and “Favorites” (2014) featuring operetta arias and musical numbers with the Munich Radio Orchestra under the direction of Gerrit Prießnitz. Additionally, his discography includes a recording of Korngold’s Die tote Stadt from the Frankfurt Opera under Sebastian Weigle (Oehms Classics), a CD and a DVD featuring hits from Berlin to Broadway with Renée Fleming under the baton of Christian Thielemann (Deutsche Grammophon), as well as a complete recording of Lohengrin with the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra under Marek Janowski. In January 2016, a recording of Franz Schmidt’s Das Buch mit sieben Siegeln from Hamburg’s Laeiszhalle under Simone Young was released (Oehms Classics), and in March 2017, a complete recording of Lohengrin with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam under the baton of Sir Mark Elder was released. From the Bayreuth Festival, Lohengrin, Parsifal, and Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, among others, are available on DVD; the latter was awarded the OPUS Klassik prize in 2019. In 2023, a recording of Schubert’s Die schöne Müllerin with a chamber music ensemble was released.

In 2012, Klaus Florian Vogt received the ECHO Klassik award for Artist of the Year; in 2025, he was honored as “Best Singer” at the Oper! Awards in Brussels. In 2019, the Senate of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg named him a “Hamburger Kammersänger.”
