The Polish soprano Magdalena Lucjan (born in 1999 in Pszczyna) is regarded as one of the most promising talents of her generation on the international opera and concert stages. Since her sensational victory at the prestigious international “Neue Stimmen” Singing Competition in Gütersloh in 2024, as well as her First Prize at the 2nd International Karol Szymanowski Music Competition in Katowice in 2023, she has established herself as a distinguished artist within the European music scene.

Since the 2024/25 season, Magdalena Lucjan has been a member of the ensemble of the renowned Semperoper Dresden. Within a remarkably short period of time, she has developed an extensive repertoire at the house. Her most notable achievements and roles in Dresden include Pamina in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, Gretel in Humperdinck’s Hänsel und Gretel, Frasquita in Bizet’s Carmen, the Sacerdotessa in Verdi’s Aida, Smeraldina in Prokofiev’s The Love for Three Oranges, as well as the Nightingale/Princess in Ravel’s L’enfant et les sortilèges.

In the 2026/27 season, she continues to expand her repertoire at the Semperoper with, among others, her highly anticipated role debut in Franz Lehár’s operetta Die lustige Witwe (November 2026 to January 2027). Another major highlight of the season takes her back to her home country: in spring 2027, she will make her important role debut as Leïla in Bizet’s Les pêcheurs de perles (The Pearl Fishers) at the Polish National Opera in Warsaw (Teatr Wielki).

On the concert platform, Magdalena Lucjan further strengthens her reputation as a sensitive and refined interpreter during the 2026/27 season. Following her acclaimed appearances at the Cologne Philharmonie, she has been invited back by the WDR, where she will perform Francis Poulenc’s monumental Gloria with the WDR Symphony Orchestra. A special media highlight of the season is her engagement for the prestigious nationwide broadcast Advent Concert of the State Government of North Rhine-Westphalia in December. Together with the WDR Funkhaus Orchestra, she will perform before an invited audience from the worlds of politics and culture, as well as millions of viewers and listeners via WDR television and radio.

Another significant debut will take place in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, where she will perform the soprano solo in Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 4 in Schwerin and interpret his deeply moving Rückert-Lieder. In November 2026, she will appear at the Anneliese Brost Musikforum Ruhr with the Bochum Symphony Orchestra, performing Franz Schubert’s Mass in E-flat major, D 950, under the direction of Florian Helgath alongside the renowned ensemble Chorwerk Ruhr. A close artistic partnership will once again bring her to the National Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra (NOSPR) in Katowice, where she will appear as soloist in Mozart’s Requiem.

Magdalena Lucjan completed her Bachelor’s degree with distinction at the Music and Arts Private University of the City of Vienna (MUK) and continued her academic training in the Master’s programme at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (MDW). She received important artistic impulses as a member of the Opera Academy at the Polish National Opera in Warsaw (Teatr Wielki), as well as during the summer of 2024 as a scholarship recipient of the renowned International Meistersinger Academy (IMA) in Neumarkt.

Throughout her artistic development, she has worked with distinguished singers, musicians, and vocal pedagogues, including Olga Pasiecznik, Izabela Kłosińska, Vesselina Kasarova, Angelika Kirchschlager, and Helmut Deutsch.
