Katharina Konradi was born in Bishkek and is the world’s first soprano from Kyrgyzstan to have an international career as a lied, concert and opera singer. She moved to Hamburg with her family in 2003 and went on to study with Julie Kaufmann in Berlin and with Christiane Iven in Munich. Master classes with Helmut Deutsch and Klesie Kelly-Moog gave Konradi further musical and artistic momentum in developing her career. In 2016 she won the German Music Competition and was awarded a BBC scholarship for the New Generation Artists Programme (2018-2021).

After being under contract at the Hessian State Theatre in Wiesbaden for three years at the beginning of her career, the artist made her debut as Ännchen (Der Freischütz) at the Hamburg State Opera in 2018 and has since been a permanent ensemble member of the house. She sings the major roles in her repertoire, quickly catching the attention of other prestigious stages. In the 2024/25 season, she will appear as Oscar in a new production of Un Ballo in Maschera at Zurich Opera, as Adele in Die Fledermaus in Munich, as Gilda in Rigoletto, and as Susanna in The Marriage of Figaro at the Hamburg State Opera.

In addition to these productions, her focus lies on various concert projects, where she has performed under the baton of prominent conductors such as Thomas Hengelbrock, Daniel Harding, Manfred Honeck, Paavo Järvi, Kent Nagano, and Gustavo Dudamel. She begins the current season with concerts in Paris (Fauré's Requiem) and Munich/St. Florian (Bruckner's f-minor Mass) under the baton of Thomas Hengelbrock. She will also perform Mozart's Requiem under the baton of Philippe Herreweghe in Ghent and on tour in Dresden, Hamburg, and Munich with the Dresden Philharmonic under Kreuzkantor Martin Lehmann, Mozart's c-minor Mass under the baton of Kent Nagano at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, and for the first time, Beethoven’s 9th Symphony with the Berlin Philharmonic under the baton of Kirill Petrenko in Baden-Baden.

Lieder is a special passion for the young soprano. She regularly gives recitals and will also do so in 2024/25 at international venues such as the Schubertiada in Vilabertran, the Vienna Konzerthaus, the Elbphilharmonie, and the Schubertiade in Hohenems/Schwarzenberg.

Katharina Konradi's artistry is also captured on CD. Recently released by the label CAvi-music in collaboration with SWR2 is the new duo album Echoes with mezzo-soprano Catriona Morison and Ammiel Bushakevitz on piano. In April 2024, the CD Solitude was released by Berlin Classics, featuring songs by Hugo Wolf, Clara and Robert Schumann, György Kurtág, Franz Schubert, and others, accompanied by the Cosmos Quartet. The much-acclaimed recording Insomnia, with songs by Franz Schubert (accompanied by Ammiel Bushakevitz on piano and guitar), was also released by Berlin Classics. In March 2022, the label Chandos brought out the CD Russian Roots with the Trio Gaspard. Additionally, 2022 saw the release of her highly praised recordings of Mozart Masses with the Bavarian Radio Choir and Haydn’s The Creation with the International Bach Academy under the baton of Hans-Christoph Rademann, both on the Naxos label.
